UNY English Competition (UNESHCO) is an English language competition held every year to commemorate UNY’s Anniversary. In 2026, UNESHCO will enter its 11th year of implementation and will be held on the 30th of May 2026 in the W.S. Rendra 2nd Floor Seminar Room, Faculty of Languages, Arts and Culture, Yogyakarta State University. This year, UNESHCO #11 carries the theme “Beyond Words: Speak with Purpose, Compete with Global Impact”. 

This year, UNESHCO #11 opened three competition branches, namely Speech, Microteaching, and Master of Ceremonies (MC). The preliminary stage will be held on 16–20 May 2026 online through assessments on video speeches, microteaching videos along with teaching modules, as well as master of ceremonies videos that have been collected by participants via the available Google form. Meanwhile, the semifinal and final rounds will be held offline on May 30 2026, which includes a series of semifinal and final Speech activities, as well as the Microteaching and Master of Ceremonies (MC) finals. 

The number of participants who joined UNESHCO #11 was 23 Speech participants, 12 Microteaching participants, and 18 Master of Ceremonies (MC) participants. The assessment process is carried out by three pairs of judges for each competition branch. All assessment results are summarized and sorted based on the highest score to get the 10 best participants who have the right to advance to the Speech semifinal round and the Microteaching and Master of Ceremonies finals. 

The announcement of the top 10 Speech semifinalists as well as Microteaching and Master of Ceremonies finalists was sent to each participant’s email on May 21 2026 at 20.00 WIB. The ten participants in the Speech branch who entered the semifinalist round are Namira Sifa Maharani (Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta), Vivi Maulidya Rofifah (Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta), Angelicya Theophila Duarta (Universitas Kristen Krida Wacana), Raafanisa Shabirah (Universitas Islam Negeri Jakarta), Muh. Bintang Al-Maulana (Matlabus Salik Boarding School/AL-MATLAB), Arytama Putra Setiawan (Matlabus Salik Boarding School/AL-MATLAB), Aura Aurelia Ramadhani (MA Syubbanul Wathon Magelang), Andi Maysilla Intan Manthovani (Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta), Khanaya Arbita Supriyadi (Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta), and Ahmad Jannata Zainsty (Universitas Islam Negeri Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta). 

The ten participants in the Microteaching category who advanced to the finalist round are Selvi Septiani (Universitas Teknokrat Indonesia), Salsabila Dewi Haerina (Universitas Kristen Krida Wacana), Dinda Dwi Zia (Universitas Teknokrat Indonesia), Salsabila Elysia (Universitas Teknokrat Indonesia), Rizki Maharani (Universitas Teknokrat Indonesia), Siti Yulianti Astuti (Universitas Diponegoro), Rizki Fidyaningsih (Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta), Nadia Shafiana Rahma (Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta), Rivaldo Aditya Nugraha (Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta), and Yulia Rahmawati (Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta).

The semifinal and final rounds of the Speech, Microteaching, and Master of Ceremonies (MC) categories were held from 08:50 WIB to 15:35 WIB. All activities ran smoothly and in an orderly manner. Based on the judges’ evaluation, the six winners are as follows:

  1. 1st Place: Ahmad Jannata Zainsty (Universitas Islam Negeri Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta)
  2. 2nd Place: Arytama Putra Setiawan (Matlabus Salik Boarding School/AL-MATLAB)
  3. 3rd Place: Angelicya Theophila Duarta (Universitas Kristen Krida Wacana)
  4. 1st Runner-up: Namira Sifa Maharani (Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta)
  5. 2nd Runner-up: Andi Maysilla Intan Manthovani (Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta)
  6. 3rd Runner-up: Muhammad Bintang Al-Maulana (Matlabus Salik Boarding School/AL-MATLAB) 

In the Microteaching category, the participants delivered their performances directly before the panel of judges. Based on the evaluation, the six winners are as follows:

  1. 1st Place: Nadia Shafiana Rahma (Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta)
  2. 2nd Place: Yulia Rahmawati (Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta)
  3. 3rd Place: Rizki Maharani (Universitas Teknokrat Indonesia)
  4. 1st Runner-up: Salsabila Elysia (Universitas Teknokrat Indonesia)
  5. 2nd Runner-up: Selvi Septiani (Universitas Teknokrat Indonesia)
  6. 3rd Runner-up: Rizki Fidyaningsih (Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta)

In the Master of Ceremonies category, the participants delivered their performances directly before the panel of judges. Based on the evaluation, the six winners are as follows:

  1. 1st Place: Annisa Lidya Ardiani (Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta)
  2. 2nd Place: Safira Putri Sukandar (UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta)
  3. 3rd Place: Azziah Shafa Firdaus (Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta)
  4. 1st Runner-up: Nadifa Ambar Faizah (UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta)
  5. 2nd Runner-up: Desti Uun Ristiani (Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta)
  6. 3rd Runner-up: Athallah Rafid Palamarta (Universitas Brawijaya)

Through UNESHCO #11, we hope that students are able to showcase their public speaking skills, critical thinking, and creativity. UNESHCO #11 is not merely an English language competition, but also a platform for students from across Indonesia to expand their networks and build meaningful connections. The enthusiasm and discipline demonstrated by all participants greatly contributed to the success and smooth execution of the event. We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to the organizing committee for dedicating their time and hard work to the implementation of UNESHCO #11.
