Seminar Beasiswa Studi Lanjut Luar Negeri is the first program organized by the FOLT department, held online on March 30, 2024. The event aims to provide information to the general public as well as members of SAFEL about postgraduate scholarships for Master’s (S2) and Doctoral (S3) programs offered by various providers, including governments, private institutions, and foreign universities. This year, Seminar Beasiswa Studi Lanjut Luar Negeri provides information on scholarships from Korea, Taiwan, and Scotland under the theme “Beyond Your Limits: One Step Closer to Infinity Dream” signifying the aspiration for this seminar to serve as the initial step toward achieving boundless dreams.
This year, the seminar is conducted online via Zoom, and attended by 80 participants from various regions in Indonesia. Among the plethora of scholarships, we have chosen to focus on the Global Korea Scholarship, LPDP, and National Central University as the discussion topics for this seminar. The first speaker, Shinta Anindita Latanggang, is an awardee of the Global Korea Scholarship (GKS) currently pursuing her Master’s degree at Korea University. During her presentation, she elaborated in detail on the various documents required when applying for the GKS. She highlighted the two application pathways available: the embassy track and the university track. She also discussed the stages involved in the GKS application process, not solely focusing on the application requirements and necessary documents but also sharing her learning experiences in Korea, including culture shock, academic environment, and Korean culture.
Transitioning to the second speaker, Ida Wahyuni is a recipient of the National Central University Scholarship in Taiwan, currently completing her doctoral studies there with full funding from the university. In this webinar, Mrs. Ida Wahyuni introduced the National Central University Scholarship in Taiwan, covering the application process, important dates, admission file preparation, required documents, and tips and tricks to obtain this scholarship successfully. She also shared insights into social and cultural life in Taiwan as a mother pursuing education there, emphasizing Taiwan’s reputation as one of the safest countries with rare occurrences of crime and theft. She also discussed tourist attractions that students planning to study in Taiwan can explore.
Moving on to the final speaker, Puspita Pertiwi, an awardee of the LPDP scholarship at the University of Edinburgh in 2023 is scheduled to depart for Scotland in August. During her presentation, she provided a concise and clear explanation of the LPDP scholarship, including its types, application pathways, document selection, and crucial tips and tricks for successful application. She also shared the excitement of her preparations before departing for Scotland to pursue her Master’s degree. She stressed the importance for awardees to review syllabi, timetables, and reading lists before starting classes to better prepare for academic challenges. One of Ms. Puspita’s key messages to webinar participants was to remain humble and intend all actions for the greater good.
In this seminar, there was a special session where the speakers reviewed their CVs, showcasing their experiences and backgrounds to motivate participants to pursue their dreams. Additionally, to enhance participant engagement, Q&A sessions were held after each speaker’s presentation for participants to express their inquiries. Amidst the sessions, an ice-breaking session was conducted where participants played games by answering Quizizz questions about the countries offering the scholarships. At the end of the seminar, participants were required to complete a post-test to assess their understanding of the material presented by the speakers.
The committees of Seminar Beasiswa Studi Lanjut Luar Negeri extend heartfelt gratitude to all participants who attended the seminar.
