PAB is one of the crucial events for SAFEL because this work program is designed to search for new members of SAFEL. This is one of the programs from the Human Resources Department, UKM Bahasa Asing “SAFEL” UNY. This year’s PAB theme is “Tales of Safel: A Story of Thousand Dreams,” and every step you take will lead you to one of your dreams.
The aims of this event are to promote UKM Bahasa Asing “SAFEL” to every student at UNY and then to recruit new members to join SAFEL. This year’s PAB was held online due to the transition between the pandemic and the new normal. PAB has several stages; it began with Display UKM, continued with Studium Generale, the Registration Interview, the New Member Announcement, and ended with the Inauguration.
PAB, as previously stated, starts with Display UKM. This year’s Display UKM was held on August, 24th, 2022. In this first stage, new UNY students can watch a SAFEL promotion video on BeSmart or SAFEL’s YouTube channel. This video is created to let new students know about SAFEL and what they will get if they join SAFEL.
Then, the second stage is registration. Everyone registered as a student at UNY from the first to the third year can join by following the instructions on the pamphlet. This year’s registration was held in two batches, the first batch being August 24-28, 2022, and the second batch being August 29-September 1, 2022.
After that, there’s Studium Generale in the third stage. It took place on September 10, 2022. In this stage, new candidate members can learn more about SAFEL and the kinds of work programs they have. Every department will explain its job description and works programs, the new candidate members also can ask questions to the head of the department. It was remarkably amazing; every candidate showed their interest in SAFEL.
Then, after Studium Generale, new candidate members will pass the interview stage. It took place on September 16–18, 2022, using Zoom Cloud Meetings. Each of the candidates will get questioned by the Head of Department of SAFEL about their general understanding of SAFEL, which was already explained on Studium Generale. Many incredible candidates answered perfectly.
After those stages, the staff of PAB will make an announcement about the new members of SAFEL. The announcement was posted on SAFEL’s website on September 24, 2022. It was really exciting to meet new members. Many stages have passed, and now they officially become SAFEL members.
Eventually, the last stage of PAB reached its inauguration. It took place on October 1, 2022. Happiness is engraved on each new member’s face, and it surely brings joy to them. It is a stage of celebration for those who have already performed admirably in each of the selection processes.
PAB SAFEL is a long program. From start (display UKM) to finish (inauguration), it takes more than a month. But that long duration is necessary because it’s for the regeneration of SAFEL members. Therefore, I hope new members can uncover many experiences with SAFEL and find jollity here.
