Open House (OH) is an annual program organized by the Human Resources Development (HRD), department to introduce the Foreign Language Student Activity Forum “SAFEL” at Yogyakarta State University (UNY). This event aims to introduce the work program for one administration period to the crew, members, students, and the general public. This year’s Open House carries the theme, “Shuffle the Cards, Discover New Languages.” The theme describes Open House as an opportunity to turn over a new leaf, explore various languages and cultures, and discover new experiences with SAFEL.
Just like last year, Open House 2026 still carries the concept of exhibiting the departments at SAFEL. These departments include CCU-LM, FOLT, HRD, PR, and PS. The sub-departments are Safelite and SDC from CCU-LM, and EDS from PS. Each department displays information about it’s work programs, activity agendas, and achievements during the last period. The difference from last year is that this year, each sub-department has its own booth located near it’s main department making it easier for visitors to learn about the focus and characteristics of each departmen. It was held on the 1st floor of the Student Center, on the 27th of February 2026.
The main event includes several performances like costume parade and stunning foreign language performances by talented performances. These talented individuals confidently displayed their foreign language skills while wearing traditional costumes from various countries. The countries that were represented were England, France, Germany, Japan, Korea, and China. Each country representative not only modeled their traditional clothing but also delivered greetings or short expressions in their respective languages. They walked onto the stage gracefully and expressively to show off their outfits.
ln addition, there were also performances from the Safelite, SDC, and EDS. Safelite focuses on vocals and music, SDC on dance and performances of songs such as J-pop and K-pop, while EDS focuses on developing critical thinking and public speaking skills through debates.

At this event, Safelite performed ABBA’s “Slipping Through My Fingers” and Bruno Mars’ “Talking to the Moon.” This year, SDC featured two performing groups who covered Aespa’s “Whiplash” and BSS feat. Lee Young Ji’s “Fighting” with energetic and captivating performances. Meanwhile, EDS showcased its members’ proficiency in English debate.
Through this Open House event, we hope that more students will be interested in joining and starting a new journey with SAFEL. In addition, visitors are also expected to gain a better understanding of the programs that will be implemented by each department. We would like to express our deepest gratitude to the entire committee and all those who participated and contributed their time, energy, and enthusiasm to make Open House 2026 a success. May this event mark the beginning of a journey filled with learning, experiences, and camaraderie. Thank you to everyone, and have a nice day.
