“One Day In Action” or ODIA is a workshop designed to teach SAFEL’s crews and members to improve their public speaking skills. This year ODIA focused on speech and it is really important for SAFEL’s crews and members to have good public speaking skills, especially in speech. The theme of ODIA 2024 is “Embrace Your Strength to Find Your Voice” which is taken because we want the participants to enfold their courage and be brave to express their voice.
One Day In Action needs to be pointed out every year because public speaking skills are really important in this globalization era and our hope with ODIA a lot of crews and members of SAFEL can develop and improve their speech skills in public speaking to be applied in daily life especially in a word of work after college.
This year, ODIA was held on Saturday, March 16th. And gladly ODIA 2024 of course held offline on the 2nd Floor of UNY Student Center Hall East Side with an activity format like a material session with an experienced speaker and of course continued by group forum and practice session from the participants. 34 participants are registered and 25 participants came on D-Day.
Our speaker this time is an expert in the field of speech, his name is Teguh Wicaksono. He delivered the material about general understanding of speech, speech framework, good speech attitudes, and also tips & tricks on how to become a good speaker. After that, we also had a question and answer session that we took 3 questions from the participants and answered by our guest speaker which is Teguh Wicaksono.
And then right after the material and Q&A session we also have a group discussion and practice session. In group discussion sesion the Liaison Officer will describe and tell how the session will be held and in this session all the participants can practice in front of their group mates. In the end, each group has to send their 2 best speakers of the team to practice in front of all the participants and will be assessed by the guest speaker. And here we are gonna take 5 best delegates who will be directed and trained for coaching Uneshco.
Last but not least I want to thank all of the committee, I really appreciate it and I feel touched that you guys still tried your best and worked so hard for the first event of Public Speaking Department.
