The staff from all departments and the sub-departments of “SAFEL” got the opportunity to learn a language exclusively for them. The opportunity was Minggu Lingua or we call it “MINGLING” for short. MINGLING 2021 offered three choices of languages to learn; Thai, German and French. After we did a voting to choose one of the three, Thai was chosen for this year’s MINGLING’s language. Twenty people can join the MINGLING intensive class, the class was held twice a week at 18:30 WIB for an hour through Google Meet or Zoom Cloud Meeting. The twenty people who joined the class had the privilege to access a learning module “Thai For Beginners” in pdf form. There were eight materials in total that were given by P’Siri, the teacher of MINGLING 2021, every time we finished the meeting.
The program was held for a month in July with 8 meetings every Monday and Wednesday. On Wednesday, P’Siri would give an exercise that had to be collected before the next Monday at 23:59 WIB. The exercises and materials were uploaded to MINGLING’s Google Classroom that is accessible for the 20 people who joined the MINGLING’s class. P’Siri would bring a new topic to every meeting. We learned Thai scripts, enriched our Thai vocabulary, and also tried to perform some conversations in Thai. It was fun!
MINGLING also provided learning media in a form of poster that consists of Thai letters, introductions and the summary of each meeting’s materials. There were 30 posters in total that were shared to SAFEL’s staff’s WhatsApp group after the class finished. The posters help the learners to memorize vocabularies and Thai scripts and also give easier and more fun ways to learn Thai.
MINGLING 2021 was closed with a final project, a short video of self introduction that should be uploaded on Instagram by the participants. MINGLING 2021’s teacher, P’Siri will be the judge to choose three winners of the best video submission that will win the prize from MINGLING’s committee. Eleven participants submitted the challenge with their best video. Finally, Nilamsari Wanodyatami, Naufal Nail and Risya Jenia were chosen to be the winners of MINGLING 2021’s challenge! We’re sure MINGLING 2022 will be more fun and more awesome than 2021’s MINGLING. So, don’t miss the opportunity to join next year’s MINGLING! See you in Minggu Lingua 2022!
