Public speaking is one of the essential skills needed by university students in this globalization era. In various academic activities, organizations, and competitions, communication skills play an important role in how individuals deliver ideas, build relationships, and represent themselves professionally. One of the communication skills that holds a strategic role is being a Master of Ceremonies (MC). The role of an MC is not only to guide an event, but also to create a positive atmosphere, maintain the flow of the program, and become the main representative who reflects the quality of an institution in front of the public.
As a form of commitment to supporting students’ soft skill development, UKM Bahasa Asing “SAFEL” presents MC in Action (MIA) 2026 as a platform for developing MC skills among university students. This program is designed not only to improve speaking abilities, but also to build communicators who are confident, professional, and adaptable in both formal and informal situations.
MC in Action 2026 carries the theme “Your Voice, Your Power: Command the Moment,” which emphasizes that a voice is not merely a communication tool, but also a power that can shape perceptions, influence audiences, and determine the success of an event. Through this theme, participants are expected to understand the importance of self-control, authentic confidence, and professionalism in every performance. To support this vision, the committee invited Anindita Brataningdyah as the main trainer and speaker. Through her inspiring experience and achievements in public speaking, Anindita became one of the central figures who contributed significantly to the success of the program.
MC in Action 2026 is organized by UKM Bahasa Asing “SAFEL” of Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta on April 4, 2026, at the 2nd Floor Hall, East Wing, Student Center, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta. The event began with a preparation seminar and introductory sessions aimed at equipping participants with fundamental knowledge and professional insights regarding Master of Ceremonies skills and public speaking. Following the seminar, the program continues with the Daily Practice sessions, which are conducted from April 13 to April 30, 2026, at Gedung W.S. Rendra, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta.
MC in Action 2026 serves as a strategic program to prepare students for participation in the UNY English Competition (UNESHCO) 2026 as well as other national and international competitions. Through intensive and well-directed training, participants are not only taught technical skills, but are also trained mentally to perform optimally in competitive environments. This shows that MIA is not merely an ordinary training program, but also a platform to discover and develop talented communicators.
The activities in MC in Action 2026 are arranged systematically and continuously. The program begins with a preparation seminar that provides materials about the fundamentals of public speaking, MC techniques, and stage management. In this stage, Anindita Brataningdyah played an important role in delivering practical insights and motivating participants to explore their communication potential.
Afterward, participants joined simulation and practice sessions as part of the development and evaluation process. Participants were given opportunities to demonstrate their abilities in hosting events through situations designed to resemble real-stage experiences. Assessments were conducted based on vocal techniques, stage presence, communication skills, event transition management, and audience interaction.
The Daily Practice sessions became the core of the training process because participants received regular practice and direct mentoring. Through interactive guidance and constructive feedback, Anindita helped participants improve their articulation, intonation, expression, and improvisation skills. Her supportive mentoring approach also encouraged participants to become more confident and expressive while performing on stage.
Through this structured and selective training system, MC in Action 2026 is expected to produce students who are competent, influential, and full of character. This program also becomes a platform for students to develop their potential as inspiring young communicators who are able to represent Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta positively in various opportunities.
MC in Action 2026 is not merely an MC training program, but also a platform for developing communication skills and building students character. Through the spirit of “Your Voice, Your Power: Command the Moment,” this program is expected to create a generation of Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta students who are confident, adaptable, and professional in facing future communication challenges. The presence of Anindita Brataningdyah as the main trainer became one of the key elements that strengthened the impact of this program. Through her inspiring mentorship, participants gained not only technical knowledge, but also motivation to continuously develop themselves and use their voices to inspire others. Furthermore, this program serves as a concrete effort to support the emergence of student representatives who can bring pride to the university at both national and international levels through outstanding communication skills.
