MC Club is an annual program of the Public Speaking Department UKM SAFEL UNY. This event aims to increase public speaking skills especially in MC-ing. This year’s MC Club was held online with the theme “Build Engagement, Be the Professional MC”. Different from the previous year, this year’s MC Club held 7 meetings with details of 4 Big Meetings and 3 Weekly Meetings using the Zoom Meeting and Google Meet platform. This event held more than a month with about 36 people joined it from staffs and also members of SAFEL

In this event, we have Kak Abby Radhitya as our Main Coach in the MC Club 2021. He has experienced in public speaking coaching, vocal coaching, content writer and also professional Master of Ceremony. Kak Abby also give all the modules to help the participants to know more about MC. This year, MC Club was more focused in Formal, Non-formal and Semi-formal MC and consists of 5 groups with 2 coaches in each. For the coaches, we have the staffs of SAFEL, staffs of English Debating Society and also the member of SAFEL.

The first big meeting held in 9th October 2021 with a several agendas like describe about MC Club, introducing the main coach and also the coaches. All participants from the different group has to joined the zoom meetings. The participants also have to join the breakout room with their group to get to know each other with the coach. Beside that, Kak Abby also gave the first module or material about the definition of MC and also the job and role of MC. There is also QnA session where the participants can ask about MC to Kak Abby. In the second and third big meetings, the agendas are the same which is the presentation from Kak Abby and also QnA session, but for the third big meeting Kak Abby joined each group so it can get more intensive.

For the weekly meetings, each group have a different schedules. Usually, the coaches prefer to use the google meet for weekly meeting. The coaches have to explain more about Kak Abby’s presentation in the previous big meeting with the module as the guide. After the presentation session from the coaches, there are also QnA and practice session. In the end of the meet, the coaches will give the task or challenge to the participants so they can improve their skills in MC-ing.

About the finale project, the participants must make a formal, informal or semi-formal video using the script that they made before. After that, they have to upload it to their Instagram and gave the link to the committee. Then, Kak Abby as the main coach will rate each video and the winner of the finale project will be announced on the last meeting of MC Club. This year, the winner of formal MC is Dwi Rahayu Sonia, the winner of nonformal MC is Meira Pratiwi, and also the winner of Semi-formal MC is Luluk Fitriyani. There is also Risqa Rahma Rasendria as the best participant that was chosen by all the coaches after they observe and asses the activity of participants during the event. -Risya
