The Student Activity Forum of Foreign Languages (SAFEL) at Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) wrapped up its 2024 with Latihan Dasar Organisasi on October 26th and 27th, 2024. Latihan Dasar Organisasi is a program of the HRD department based on recruitment crew to the community that aims to provide leadership activities to members. With the theme “Jump in the SAFEL Journey: Explore the Unknown, Brave the Wilds, and Embrace Your Inner Warrior” the event sought to foster an organizational skill of community within SAFEL, build a leadership spirit, and nurture a new member with strong organizational skills.
The first day of LDO was held in the 3rd-floor Student Center Hall at UNY. Participants were encouraged to discover their potential through a seminar with Kak Christina (Former President of SAFEL 2023) and Kak Rahma. The topics covered were effective time management practices, improving compelling communication skills, and the value of teamwork in attaining common goals.
As the highlight of the first day, all participants were divided into groups to perform artistic presentations. This activity not only honed creativity but also tested participants’s ability to collaborate within a limited time. Each group presented diverse performances based on superhero characters each group, all of which impressed the audience.
On the second day, the LDO proceeded at Desa Wisata Gubegan. The peaceful environment offered an ideal backdrop for challenging outbound activities. Participants were urged to engage in a game designed to develop character, increase self-confidence, and test problem-solving skills.
One of the most memorable activities was the Estafet Bola. In this game, participants had to work together as a team and demonstrate strategy. By this activity, participants not only learned about the importance of teamwork but also practiced adaptability and resilience. LDO SAFEL 2024 successfully achieved its goal of nurturing 57 members. Through a series of engaging and beneficial activities, participants not only gained new knowledge and skills but also valuable experiences that they will cherish for a lifetime. SAFEL hopes that participants can apply the knowledge they have gained from their organization’s experiences.
