Festival Budaya Internasional commonly known as Fesbud is the first program organized by department CCU-LM. Fesbud is an event that is held every year at the beginning of the month that contains the introduction to the culture of the 6 countries that are in the UKM Bahasa Asing “SAFEL”. The event is open to the public so the coverage is wider. With the theme “EUPHORIA: Feel the Rhythm In Our Euphoria“, Fesbud 2024 is expected to provide a sense of joy so that the audience feels the experience directly through the music and dance of various countries. Festival Budaya Internasional 2024 was opened by Balinese Dance Performance as one of the Guest stars, singing Indonesia Raya, and continued by Alysia Meidiani Anugrah as a head of Festival Budaya Internasional 2024. Followed by Angeli Carissa as President of UKM Bahasa Asing “SAFEL” who inaugurated the event and ended with remarks from Mr. Soni Nopembri as Vice Rector of Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta for opening too.

Festival Budaya Internasional 2024 was held at the UNY Auditorium like the previous year. This event only lasted for one day, on Tuesday from 14:00 to 21:30. Even though it was only for one day, the enthusiasm of the audience was very lively like a dynamite and they felt the excitement despite their first experience of attending Fesbud. With a total of 416 tickets that sold out, this year’s Fesbud is said to be running smooth like butter. This year’s Fesbud is very festive with the performance from 6 Guest Stars, Bali Dance, Ratoh Jaroe, Buchaechum, Käse, Safelite, and SDC which was a sub-department from CCU-LM.

The main event at Fesbud is a talk show with foreigners. With speakers from 7 countries (Kim Boyeon from South Korea, Ryoga Yoshikawa from Jepang, Han Zhongshu from China, Delloye Zoé from France, Saniya from Kazakhstan, Muqaddas Sajjad from Pakistan and Novinda Zahra R. from Indonesia). Apart from the talk show session which was divided into two sessions, (the first session was South Korea, Japan, Pakistan, and Indonesia) and (the second session was France, China, and Kazakhstan), two of them performed music and dance from their countries, Saniya from Kazakhstan sang a song with her ukulele and Muqqaddas from Pakistan danced with her friend. After the talk show ended there was a quiz that could be joined by participants and when they corrected the answer they got a prize. Beyond listening to the foreigner talk show, participants had the opportunity to visit the foreigners’ stand which contained items related to each country. Participants also received snacks provided by the committee. So each participant will get two opportunities to taste snacks from the seven existing stands. Later, participants will get a stamp on the ticket bracelet that they wear. At the stand they visited, participants could interact directly with foreigners and ask about the culture or even habitude of each country.

The benefits that participants get from Fesbud are very numerous and groovy. In addition, there was a game stand with the gift and a traditional costume rental stand from the countries in SAFEL with the affordable price of 10k/15 mins. There also was an adorable Fesbud merch stand (keychain, sticker, hand fan, and t-shirt), a cute photo booth that was visited by many participants, a sponsor stand from Wardah and Tavi cosmetics, and also im3 provider. There was delicious food from our tenants with a different menu from the others. Oh yeah, besides that, Fesbud also held a CosWalk Competition (Cosplay Walk) which was attended by many cosplayers with enthusiasm. Ended up with Sing Along, Fesbud closed beautifully like a shooting star among the fireworks at night. Despite the occasional rain during the open gate, it did not diminish the enthusiasm of the audience. My hope for next year’s Fesbud will be even more outshine. See you at Fesbud 2025 all!! (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ✧
