Reading is essential for those who seek to rise above the ordinary.” – Jim Rohn
One of the work programs held by SAFEL especially by the CCU-LM (Cross-Cultural Understanding Learning Media) department, to improve the reading enthusiasm of SAFEL’s crew and members, as well as UNY and non-UNY students, is C-Magz. C-Magz is the name of a magazine that is released by SAFEL each year.
In the last two years, due to the pandemic, C-Magz was released not in the form of a physical magazine but as a digital platform. However, in this period the pandemic is decreasing, so C-Magz was released in two forms: a digital magazine and a printed magazine.
This year, C-Magz brings the theme “Enthralling: Discovery Tales of Fascinating Land with Perpetual Jollity” which is the same theme as the Festival Budaya Internasional that was held in March. This theme is about the beauty of magical fairy tales. The magazine design, in keeping with the theme, is dominated by magical concepts such as fairy and elf icons, magical forests, and so on.
C-Magz provides readers with some fascinating contents, including information about folks from abroad (Germany, UK, France, South Korea, China, and Japan), information about SAFEL’s departments and subdepartments, Safel Bekarya and Safel Berprestasi, costume rental information, and many more.
During the pre-publication, C-Magz was published on SAFEL’s Instagram account and on WhatsApp groups and statuses in order to gain readers. And as we said, C-Magz was published on two different platforms. The first platform is through a digital platform called FlipHTML5. By reading through this platform, readers will experience reading a printed-like magazine. On August 22, 2022, the online publication took place.
The second publication was the printed magazine. It is printed on A5 paper size, and it was given to 30 UKM. The offline publication was held several days after the online publication, precisely on August 26, 2022.
After some breaks due to the pandemic, SAFEL is releasing the printed form of the magazine, although its publication was not for all of Yogyakarta State University’s students. We do hope this step can be a starting point to bring everyone back into the usual situation. We hope C-Magz can be one of the knowledge sources, a medium to increase reading interest, and a medium that brings joy to readers. -April and Nanda
