Student Activity Forum of Foreigner Languages is a student activity unit at Yogyakarta State University that focuses on foreign cultures and languages. One of the programs run by this unit is One Day with SAFEL (ODWS). ODWS is a program that aims to introduce foreign cultures and languages to children. The foreign cultures and languages introduced come from Japan, Korea, Germany, France, China, and England.

This year, ODWS collaborated with Pemuda Peduli Jogja (Yogyakarta Youth Care). ODWS was held at TBM RM Suryowinoto, Giwangan. The theme was “Colors of The World: A Joyful Quest through Languages and Cultures.” ODWS was held as an effort to foster children’s interest and motivation to learn foreign languages and cultures through interactive and fun activities.

The series of events consisted of an opening ceremony and exciting activities, such as a costume parade from each country and interactive games. During the costume parade, costume designers showcased costumes from all six countries. The parade began with a Yukata from Japan, followed by a Hanbok from South Korea, a Dirndl from Germany, a White Dress & Flower Dress from France, and concluded with a Red Coat from England. Next, during the games session, participants were divided into three groups: sunset, sunrise, and sunshine. Each group visited three game stations. The first station was a greeting and match-the-objects station. Participants learned to use greetings from the six foreign countries and matched pictures of historical monuments with their names. The second station was a touch-the-color station. Participants were introduced to colors in English and then asked to touch the named color using a plastic cup. The final station was a mingle station. Participants lined up in a circle, then turned around and joined up with a friend in the number indicated by the organizers.

The children participated enthusiastically in each activity. This was evident in the cheerfulness and warm atmosphere that accompanied the event. Not only did the games serve as a form of entertainment, but the children also gained new insights. The ODWS, held on August 31, 2025, concluded happily with the presentation of prizes to the children as a token of appreciation for their participation in the games.

One Day with SAFEL (ODWS) 2025 successfully created a memorable learning experience for children while strengthening the spirit of collaboration among SAFEL student activity unit members and activity partners. Through a cheerful atmosphere and a spirit of togetherness, this activity became a concrete step in fostering curiosity, tolerance, and appreciation for the diversity of languages and cultures worldwide
