Speaking Club 2025 is a program organized by the Public Speaking Department and led by Rian Firmansyah and Khoirunnisa Hawie. The program serves as a learning space for SAFEL crews and members to develop their English-speaking skills in a guided and supportive environment. Carrying the theme “Let Your Words Flow, Let Your Confidence Grow,” the program is designed to help participants build confidence and improve their speaking abilities through consistent practice and meaningful interaction. Speaking Club ensures that every participant can grow step by step in a comfortable and encouraging atmosphere. This year, SAFEL collaborated with UNY International Office to invite a special guest speaker from Egypt to the Big Meetings of Speaking Club.
The Speaking Club program took place from October 5th to November 15th at the Student Center Hall, 3rd floor. The program began with the First Big Meeting, where participants received foundational public speaking material and practical tips delivered directly by our Guest Speaker, Miss Alaa Eltelwany, serving as their initial preparation before entering the weekly sessions. This was followed by four Weekly Meetings, where each participant was accompanied and guided in a group by their respective coaches. In these weekly meetings, the main activities consisted of speaking based on the weekly topics provided by the committee, allowing participants to practice expressing ideas more naturally and confidently. The series concluded with the Last Big Meeting, where every group presented their final project, a musical drama parody.
To enrich the learning experience, Speaking Club 2025 invited Miss Alaa Eltelwany from Egypt as both the guest speaker and assessor. During the Talkshow Session at the First Big Meeting, Miss Alaa shared insights on effective communication, natural English usage, and ways to deliver messages with confidence. She also served as the main evaluator during the Final Project at the Last Big Meeting. At this final session, each group showcased a Musical Drama lasting 7–10 minutes, themed according to the musical film represented by their group name. To encourage genuine speaking practice, all musical elements were required to be performed live without lip-sync—helping participants strengthen pronunciation, intonation, and expressive delivery. With consistent coaching, supportive teamwork, and structured weekly practice, participants showed noticeable improvement in their confidence and speaking skills.
Speaking Club 2025 has been a meaningful and supportive learning journey for all participants. With the contribution of the coaches, the hard work of the committee, the enthusiasm of the members, and the insightful presence of Miss Alaa Eltelwany, this year’s program successfully created a safe space for growth and self-expression. It is hoped that the confidence and speaking skills gained throughout the program will continue to benefit participants in their academic life, organizational involvement, and everyday communication. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to the success of Speaking Club 2025!
