Seminar Beasiswa Studi Luar Negeri is the first program from this year that happened, arranged by the FOLT Department, which was held on Saturday, 15th of March, 2025, at Student Center, 3rd Floor Hall. The event aims to provide information to the general public and SAFEL members about scholarship opportunities for overseas study at the Bachelor’s (S1), Master’s (S2), and Doctoral (S3) levels, as well as student exchange programs offered by governments, private institutions, and foreign universities. This year, Seminar Beasiswa Studi Luar Negeri invites a speaker that achieved an LPDP scholarship to Australia and a student exchange program scholarship called KUOSSPIS from Thailand. This year we have decided that the theme is “Discovering Overseas Scholarships in a Sea of Opportunities,” conveying that although the search might feel daunting, there are plenty of scholarships to be found, and persistence and exploration will ultimately lead to success.

This year’s scholarship seminar was carried out through an offline meeting and was attended by around 45 participants. The first speaker is Jefrianus Putra Zebua, who is an awardee of LPDP LN Beasiswa Pra-sejahtera at the University of Adelaide, Australia. He came from a small island located in Sumatra called Nias and currently has been doing language training here in our university before going to Australia next year. He explained a lot of things about LPDP, from every type of LPDP scholarship that we can apply for to the tips and tricks on how to pass the very harsh interview and even to the smallest detail, like don’t ever ask where you can find the website for applying for LPDP to someone who has been trying to apply for a scholarship for years, because that will leave a bad impression on you.

Moving to the second speaker, Muhamad Rifky Arya Dewa Pradana is an awardee of KUOSSPIS, or one semester scholarship exchange for international students at Kasetsart University in Thailand. He went to Thailand in his eighth semester, which is the perfect time to apply because of a lot of free time in that semester. He shared with us his experience while studying in Thailand and also explained to us that KUOSSPIS is not like any other scholarship that requires an interview and is actually one of the easiest ones that we could apply for, compared to other scholarships. And what’s interesting is that with a lot of monthly allowances, which are given each month, we can save a lot of money to buy things or go to all kinds of concerts in Thailand.

In each presentation, there is an open discussion between the speaker and the participants through the question session. Towards the end of the event, the moderator conveys appreciation of the speakers who have been willing to share knowledge and information and conveys a little conclusion obtained at the seminar today. Last but not least, we, as a committee, hope that Seminar Beasiswa Studi Luar Negeri could be useful for all participants. See you in Seminar Beasiswa Studi Luar Negeri 2026!
