Learning Media is one of the work programs in the CCU-LM department. Learning Media aims to provide interactive and educational media to help members of society learn about foreign languages and cultures. Learning Media #2 2022 was held online on the Wordwall platform from September 12 to 18, 2022, due to the pandemic. Learning media #2 focuses on cultures with the theme “DRESVENTURES: Discovering the Treasure Inside Venerable Cultures”. Learning Media #2 invited us to swim through the ocean and play various fun cultural games to learn and collect treasures to introduce the concept of being underwater.

Learning Media #2 consists of many cultures from six countries: China, English, French, German, Japan, and Korea. The first culture is from China. This is the first year that Chinese culture is used on SAFEL’s Learning Media. With the jungle theme, we used a simple matching-pair game model. It consists of five matching questions about basic Chinese cultures. In total, 25 participants have already played this game.

The second culture is English. We used a match-up question model. This model is used so that people can see the forms of the cultures in English. It consists of ten questions. At the end of the period, 37 participants had already played this game.

The next culture is French. We used the “find the match” model for this game. Participants need to find the matching answer to finish the level. This game consists of ten questions, and 20 people have already completed it.

The fourth culture is German. We used a gameshow quiz for this game. Participants must select the correct answer based on the quiz question. This game has 10 questions that need to be answered. The total number of people who have completed this game is 21.

The next game is about Korean culture. The model of the game is called “open the box”. Participants need to choose one of the boxes and choose the right answer to the question inside. This game has 10 questions related to Korean culture. At the end of the period, 45 people had already played this game.

And now the last game is about Japanese culture using the maze-chase game. Participants are required to run to the correct answer zone while avoiding the enemies. This game has 10 questions to complete. And there are 31 people who have already played this game.

Learning Media #2 has a total of 179 participants. Six players who have the highest score and have followed the rules in each language have the right to get the treasure. The winners are announced at SAFEL’s official Instagram, @safeluny. Learning Media #2 has already exceeded the target, so we can say that it is successful.

Thank you for the enthusiasm from all of the participants, the help from members of the CCU-LM department as the committee, the language expert who helped us supervise the question, and SAFEL’s PI-PH who gave recommendations and helped. We hope that what you have learned from this Learning Media #2 about several foreign cultures will be helpful for you. If you want to try the learning media on your own, you can check on this link: https://beacons.ai/LearningMedia2022. That’s all about the second Learning Media. We’ll see you at Learning Media 2023. –Melva and Luluk
