Seminar Beasiswa Studi Lanjut Luar Negeri is the first program from the FOLT Department, which was held on Saturday, April 2, 2022. This scholarship seminar aims to provide information about scholarships and cultures that we will encounter during study abroad. This year, Seminar Beasiswa Studi Lanjut Luar Negeri provides UK scholarship information with theme “Take a Bold Step to UK, Get Closer to Your Dream”, which means that this seminar can be a bridge for everyone to be closer to their dreams.
This year’s scholarship seminar was carried out through Zoom Cloud Meetings and was attended by around 100 participants. From so many scholarships to the UK, the Chevening Scholarship and LPDP Scholarship became the right choices. The first speaker is Giasinta Livia, who is an awardee of the Chevening Scholarship 2021/2022. She is a student at the University of Reading. She explained deeply about Chevening Scholars and the cultures that can be learned when undergoing study there.
She also explained that the Chevening Scholarship is so flexible that we can choose any programme in the UK. In addition, the Chevening Scholarship is fully-funded with scholarship coverage, namely flights, accommodation, living allowance, and course fees. Another interesting thing conveyed was that many cultures can be learned from, for example, visiting Windsor Castle in the UK, where at that time there was a changing of the guards.
Turning to the second speaker, Muhammad Farhan Azis, who is an awardee of the LPDP Scholarship and a student at the University of Edinburgh. What he was conveyed by so rapidly runoff, starts from the administrative step to the final interview step. An interesting thing from the LPDP Scholarship, which he said was about the cost components given by the LPDP Scholarship, starting from education to supporting costs.
The cultures felt by him were no less interesting, one of which is an individualism that has become a habit in the country as the land of hope and glory. However, according to him, England remains a place to acquire knowledge and get the best rest, especially in Edinburgh.
In each presentation, there were open discussions between the speaker and the participants through the question session. Towards the end of the event, the moderators convey appreciation to the speakers who have been willing to share knowledge and information and convey a little conclusion obtained from the seminar today. Last but not least, we, as a committee, hope that Seminar Beasiswa Studi Lanjut Luar Negeri could be useful for all participants. -Julia
