Having a strong bond among engaged members is a crucial thing to achieve the long-term success for an organization. One of the essential things to establish this characteristic is by focusing to improve strong personal relationships among each member. Because of this, an agenda aimed to upgrade and lift the organization members’ spirit is needed in building great teamwork. This kind of agenda is also carried out by UKM Bahasa Asing “SAFEL” UNY called Upgrading.
Upgrading is an annual event held by Human Resources Development department of UKM Bahasa Asing “SAFEL” UNY. This event features activities that acquaint, welcome, and unite fellow SAFEL’s crews. This event aims to strengthen the bond, increase motivation and also enthusiasm among SAFEL’s crews. This year’s Upgrading theme is ‘Work Together, Trust Each Other, and Make it Better’ . It is taken with the purpose of emphasizing a sense of kinship between SAFEL’s crews that working as one and trusting each other will shape UKM Bahasa Asing “SAFEL” UNY better in the future.
Upgrading was held for two days by offline and online concept. Upgrading 2021 was held on June 5th—6th, 2021. The event was held at Balai Maspur Sagan, Yogyakarta, and by Zoom Cloud Meeting. Those staying near the venue and could join in one place were following the event offline at the venue by complying with COVID-19 health and safety protocols, while others who could not come to the venue were following the event online.
On the first day, Upgrading was opened by welcoming speeches uttered by the chairman of the committee, Balqista Surya Azizah, and the president of SAFEL, Nazila Laila Syifa Sunni. There was a photo session afterward, either in the venue or on Zoom Cloud Meeting. The agenda was followed with a discussion about organization and mental health explained by Mrs. Yuli Nurmalasari, S.Pd., M.Pd., a Counseling Guidance lecturer of UNY. The participants were highly enthusiastic in following the discussion. The ice-breaking session was held after the discussion was finished and followed with the last agenda of the day, a game that was hosted by MPO called ‘Notice Me Senpai’. The participants were grouped into each department and they had to remember some details in the presented video. After the agenda of day-1 was closed by the MC, each department was requested to do an evaluation with each MPO and their fellow department staff.
The second day was opened by the MC and the agenda started with ‘Tebak Kata’ game from the MPO. The game was played by each department, one by one. A person from each department acted as a clue-giver who had to demonstrate the words, and the rest must guess the words that the clue-giver was trying to explain. All participants seemed to be very joyful and active in playing the game. The next agenda was video playback that was previously had been prepared and made by each department. There were lots of moods pictured on everyone’s face, excitement, joy, nostalgia, and other emotions that grew teary-eyed. Afterward, there was a prize-giving agenda for the champion of ice breaking held on the previous day. Last but not least, the event was closed after taking some photos at the venue and Zoom Cloud Meeting.
Even though not all crews can be able to gather together in one place to take part in this year’s Upgrading event, hopefully, it won’t affect the essence of the event, upgrading the spirit, strengthening the bond, and increasing enthusiasm of SAFEL’s crews. –Cise-
