Pelatihan Bahasa Asing or PELBA is Foreign Languages Training Department’s program that concern with learning languages. Pelatihan Bahasa Asing is one of the big events in UKM Bahasa Asing “SAFEL”. This program is held every year, usually around October or November. Mostly, there are about six class choices with various languages that can be learned. Including English basic or English intermediate, Mandarin, Japanese, Korean, German, and French.
Unfortunately, because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Pelatihan Bahasa Asing this year must be held online. The registration starts from October 17th-30th 2020. Someone who has an interest in this program can register themself and choose the languages they want to learn, then make the payment and confirmation to the contact person. In the final step of registration, the participants have to fill the registration form. The participants can also choose more than one language as long as they can make a payment and follow the class continuously. Pelatihan Bahasa Asing 2020 also has the registration fee, but less than usual. For members of SAFEL, they must pay Rp25.000, for UNY students Rp30.000, and non-UNY students have to pay Rp35.000.
Pelatihan Bahasa Asing 2020 held online for one month in November 2020 from 2nd-28th November 2020. There are 12 meetings including the examination and each class has 3 times a week. For English class it held on Monday, Thursday, Saturday; Japan class on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday; German class on Monday, Wednesday, Friday; Korean class on Tuesday, Friday, Saturday; Mandarin class on Monday, Wednesday, Saturday; and the last class there is French class on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. The class would be held in 90 minutes/meeting and using WhatsApp group, google meet, and google classroom.
For this year, Pelatihan Bahasa Asing has limited seats only for 35 participants/class. We have professional and experienced tutors for each class. The participants are given modules to facilitate learning. Everyone can join the class because all classes start with basic learning.
