“Know Your Audience, Speak With Confidence”
MC Club SAFEL is an event that aims to create a new better MC and to teach the members of SAFEL how to be a good MC. This agenda usually has several agendas, which are open registration, the first meeting, the daily meeting, and the last meeting. As we all know, this year, the coronavirus pandemic has caused many events to be called off and any gathering is only limited to a small number of people. This situation has also affected the agenda of MC Club which was usually held in some places inside the University with many fun activities. Due to this situation, we held a virtual event through online platforms. This year MC Club comes with a grand theme: “Know Your Audience, Speak With Confidence”, this theme’s meaning is when we are to be master of ceremony, we have to know the condition of our audience and when we have known it, we must speak confidently.
This event was held from 31 October till 29 November via a Zoom meeting. This activity was attended by approximately 35 participants who were the members of UKM Bahasa Asing “SAFEL”. The first meeting of MC Club started with the opening speech by the head of the MC Club committee and was followed by the speech from SAFEL’s president. Also in this meeting, the committees of MC Club were talking a little about MC Club. Not to forget about the session with the Main Coach of MC Club 2020, Khansen Pranata, which was so inspiring and fun. He told us a bit about a Master of Ceremony in general, to make the participant understand or having some imaginations about MC-ing. Then, the daily meeting, which was conducted after the first meeting, is an agenda in which the participant in each group had their regular meeting once a week. They were free to decide which days were suitable for them in which all of them could attend the meeting. The daily meeting had 3 meetings, which were conducted week by week. In the daily meeting, they were studying about MC with the module that had been created by the committees in advance. In every group or every meeting, there were two LO who would tell them about the module.
The last agenda of Mc Club is the last meeting. This final meet was conducted on 29th November. This final meet started with speeches from the head committee of the MC Club and also the president of SAFEL. After that, the event was continued by introducing the Judge of MC Club 2020. MC Club 2020 was not held like the previous year in which we asked them to take some videos of being MC. With the current condition, we had decided what agendas were more suitable, and they are Seminar Beasiswa for formal MC and Inauguration for Informal MC. After that, the videos of the top 3 of each agenda made by the participants were displayed. Then the Judge was giving feedback for each video and also gave the solution and advice for each contestant. After that, there was feedback for the participant in general, and also testimonials from the participants about how were the MC Club this year. Finally, the event was closed with a photo session between the committees and participants of MC Club 2020. MC Club was one of the last programs from SAFEL, which is very important to create a better generation of Master Ceremonies. There were a lot of funs during the agenda, thus, we are hoping to see you again in better condition next year. -Lalu
