Every time we need to improve our communication or socialization skills, whether at work or while studying, we can improve ourselves by reflecting on what we have done from the beginning until now. Then we can know what shortcomings we need to improve on in the future.

Upgrading? What’s that? The Human Resources Development department of Foreign Language UKM “SAFEL” UNY hosts an annual event called Upgrading, which this year has the theme “Together, Let’s Make Our Days Brighter, Smile Wider, and Feel Happier.”

In essence, Upgrading aims to increase motivation and strengthen the relationship between SAFEL’s crew. Even though there are many limitations in communicating, with this Upgrading activity, it is hoped that it can strengthen previously tenuous relationships, which can create a more meaningful atmosphere accompanied by laughter, both joy and sorrow.

This activity has been carried out for two days online and offline in the meeting room of the Yogyakarta State University Student Center on June 4-5, 2022. The crew who are around Yogyakarta can take part in offline activities, while those who are far from Jogja can take part online.

On the first day, this activity was opened with remarks delivered by the head of the Upgrading committee, then the President of SAFEL’s, and continued by SAFEL’s Representative Coach. But before that, participants need to use the virtual zoom background that has been created by each department. After that, there was a group photo session in the Zoom meeting room. The event continued with the delivery of material from Putri Millennia as a Counseling Guidance Student at Yogyakarta State University.

The material presented was in the form of the urgency of mental health when organizing in the midst of a pandemic. We chose to adopt this theme because in this half term of management we have not been able to always meet and carry out all SAFEL work programs directly. The aim is that we are able to increase interaction with fellow teammates and manage ourselves as well as possible.

Then the event continued with a question and answer session. The participants were very enthusiastic about participating in the discussion and ice-breaking session using Quizziz games. The event on the first day ended with the screening of V4P. V4P is “Video For Polos” made by each SAFEL department. The V4P that was broadcast contained parodies of each member when discussing SAFEL’s work program.

The second day was opened by the MC, then it was left to the MPO to lead the event. The event was led by MPO in the form of guessing songs, questions related to SAFEL, and guessing words. The game is played by each department. Each department is eager to compete in guessing songs, guessing words, and questions related to SAFEL.

The next item on the agenda is the screening of videos that have already been made by each pair of administrators. The video is a parody of funny moments that have occurred during activities at SAFEL. Lots of laughter and joy were written on everyone’s faces. The event continued with the evaluation of the department by the MPO, where we discussed togetherness and communication in the half-management that occurred.

It didn’t feel like the event on the second day was about to end. The last event was the distribution of prizes from the games that had been held. Although not all participants can gather in one place to take part in this year’s Upgrading activity, hopefully all participants will have the same excitement during the event.

We hope that participants can revive their spirits after half a year of management, can improve their abilities from time to time, and can have a close relationship with each other.
