TOEFL Simulation Test is one of the annual programs by the FOLT Department (Foreign Language Training) UKM Bahasa Asing “SAFEL” Student Activity Forum of Foreign Language. TOEFL Simulation Test is held to help the participants especially college students from the State University of Yogyakarta and the public to test their English skills by English tests like TOEFL, and help the participants who need TOEFL score for a certain need. This program was cooperating with a trusted agency that is usually held a TOEFL test.
This year, we held the test on 18th July 2020 by online systems. We only held a TOEFL simulation test that hopes the participants know the model of the TOEFL test. We cooperated with AMBIZ EDUCATION because they are one of the agencies which can organize online prediction of TOEFL or TOEFL simulation test. We opened the registration for 2 weeks with the target of 75 participants, different from the previous year in which the target of participants was 50 persons. We expected if the participants were not too much, but in the realization, there were around 750 participants who registered themselves for this test. From all the participants who registered themselves, around 450 participants joined the test and the others were skipping the test because some of them forgot the schedule, sick, and something else.
This year, there was no briefing section like in the previous year. Because this year there is a pandemic of Covid-19, so we held the test with online systems. TOEFL simulation test this year does not need a lot of crew and can be handled by the crew of the FOLT Department (Foreign Language Training). After the registration was closed, the participants joined the open group chat at the Line platform. This group was used to share the information about the test and also share the link for the question and the online answer sheet. There was an obstacle that is the problem of question link in the listening section, but this problem can be solved quickly by the organizer and the test can continue without any problems again. The participants joined this test smoothly and some of them printed their score of TOEFL in the e-certificate form. At last but not least, from all the crew of the TOEFL Simulation Test, we hope that the next TOEFL test will run smoothly and without any obstruction. Hopefully, in the next year can cooperate with AMBIZ EDUCATION again and the target of participants can be fulfilled.–TiasDM
