Open House (OH) is a work program organized by the Human Resources Development (HRD) annually to introduce the Student Activity Forum of Foreign Languages “SAFEL” at Yogyakarta State University (UNY), especially the work programs during one administration period, to the crew, members, students, and the general public. This year’s OH carries the theme, “Down the Path of Flora and Find Yourself in a Sweet Paradise!” The theme pictures OH as a sweet paradise open for everyone and encourages them to join.
Unlike prior years, which featured a presentation of the work programs available at SAFEL, Open House 2025 brings a new concept with an exhibition format from the five departments and their sub-departments. The departments were CCU-LM, FOLT, HRD, PR, and PS. The sub-departments were Safelite and SDC from CCU-LM, and EDS from PS. It was held on the 1st floor of the Student Center, on the 27th of February 2025.
The main event includes several performances like costume parade & foreign language performances. Where talents performed their foreign language specialities while donned with traditional costumes from around the world. The countries that were represented were England, France, Germany, Japan, Korea, and China. The talents walked up the stage and showed off their exquisite clothes, the audience loved it.
The next event involved a performance from both Safelite and SDC, the sub-departments of CCU-LM. Safelite is a sub-department which focuses on vocals and musical instruments, whilst SDC focuses more on dancing, covering J-pop, K-pop, and others. During the Open House, Safelite sung a cover of a Japanese song, an Indonesian song, and a western song. SDC brought a cover of Baby Monster’s “Drip” and it was phenomenal.
The hope for this event is that people will be more interested to start their journey in SAFEL. We also hope those who attended the event could be more informed about future programs in each department. They will have the opportunity to develop a new-found curiosity revolving around SAFEL. A massive thank you goes to all the committee members and all the people that attended. Let’s reserve these memories forever. Arigatou gozaimasu!
