Networking is an annual program from the PR Department of SAFEL. It is a program to improve and preserve the relation between SAFEL and organizations or institutions around Yogyakarta. This year, SAFEL UNY visited Student English Activity of Sunan Kalijaga State Islamic University (SPBA UIN) on March, 6th 2022 with the theme “Into Unity and Beyond”. This theme aims to establish better relationships, obtain more information and build connections through visiting Sunan Kalijaga State Islamic University.
The opening plenary attended by all committees and delegates was opened by a welcoming speech from SPBA UIN’s President and SAFEL UNY’s President, continued by a speech from SAFEL’s representative coach. All 3 speeches in general was about the organization itself and represents how both sides are willingly welcoming to each other. A few notable differences between this year’s Networking and the year prior is the documentation session that happens right after the speech was delivered.
Following the documentation is a presentation from SPBA UIN’s representative about their organization. Afterwards, Safelite performed a number as an intermezzo before the presentation from SAFEL UNY. Moving forward was another intermission from the committee which provided an ice breaking activity through quizizz. The closing performance was given by Safel Dance Club followed by the gifting of memoriam from SAFEL.
On a side note, the Focus Group Discussion was put towards the last as we thought outrunning the scheduled time was concerning. The FGD satisfied both the members and delegates as they were able to share and ask questions to each other. The main topic discussed in this FGD was mainly about our departments and the keys to synergizing cross-department.
In conclusion, SAFEL through the Networking event has successfully created a space for the organizations involved to broaden their network, obtain new friends with interesting experiences and unique knowledge. Internally, SAFEL has trained the development of its committee’s skills in managing and planning an event all throughout.
