Festival Budaya Internasional, also known as Fesbud, is an annual event coordinated by Cross-Cultural Understanding and Learning Media or CCU-LM of Student Activity Forum of Foreign Languages, Yogyakarta State University or SAFEL UNY. The purpose of this event is to introduce international cultures to general public, particularly UNY students. Aside from that, audiences can develop their English skills as a foreign language for communication.
Fesbud is usually hosted offline in UNY’s auditorium, with a variety of activities such as international talk shows, performances by native speakers, food stands from foreigners, costume stands, game stands, and photo booths. While attending this show, visitors can do many things, such as interacting with foreigners directly, testing traditional food, making new acquaintances, taking pictures with traditional costumes, and learning about new cultures there.
Unfortunately, due to unexpected conditions, Fesbud could not be held as usual in the Auditorium of UNY. This is the third time Fesbud is held in online concept. This year’s theme is “ENTHRALLING: Discover Tales of Fascinating Land with Perpetual Joy”. We provide new experiences for audiences in learning about cultures together. Fesbud was held online on the SAFEL UNY OFFICIAL YouTube Channel on March 27th, 2022.
As we mentioned before, Fesbud will give you some new experiences during the show based on the theme. ENTHRALLING, Fesbud 2022 concept, is a thing that gives a beautiful impression and attracts the attention of several creatures in the world. We hope that audiences can know and remember the various stories about legends that exist in each region and get the moral values from them that are useful in everyday life.
This year, we welcomed native speakers from Brazil, Philipines, Thailand, The United States, Mexico, Slovenia, and Sweden, as well as East Java, Indonesia’s delegate. We did not only invited the speakers but we also brought guest stars; Safelite, SDC, Opening Dance “Kamasetra”, and Käse so the audiences can participate in a live chat while watching the performances. In addition, we had an Instagram Q&A session about the event, which made this event more colorful and fun. Thank you for watching this event! We will meet again next year! -Firdha
